Melva Yvonne Bowman Franco, 62 of Anadarko was called home by the Lord on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was born January 1, 1951 to John William Bowman Sr and Wands Stephens Matlock in Lawton, Oklahoma. She graduated from Shiprock High school in Shiprock, NM with the class of 1969. She received her Bachelors Degree from U S A O in Chickasha, Oklahoma in Business Administration and a Minor in Indian Studies & Psychology. Melva was employed with the Western Delaware Nation as Social Service and Education Director for many years. She enjoyed her job and. Her greatest love was for her family. She had made a profession of her faith in Christ. She was a member of the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband, Lorenzo Franco Sr. one son, Lorenzo Franco Jr, two grandchildren, Julissa Franco and Christopher Franco of Anadarko, her father, John William Bowman Sr. of Anadarko, and her mother, Wanda Stephens Matlock of Anadarko, two special nephews, Delano S. Barney of Anadarko, John W. Bowman lll of Chickasha, two special neices, Dawnie Frank of Phoenix, Arizona and Jesse Taylor of Owasso, OK. one brother, Alan Bowman of Anadarko, two sisters, Delana Taylor of Owasso, Ok and Ernie Titchywy and husband, Bill of OK City, OK numerous other nieces, nephews, cousin and other relatives and friends, she is preceded by two brothers, John William Bowman Jr and Alfred Ross Bowman, paternal grandparents, Alfred and Wilhelmina Bowman, maternal grandmother, Martha Kiddahwaddy Reeder, maternal grandfather, Oscar Stephens.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 9, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m .at Smtih Chapel and Celebration of Life will be at10:00 A. M., Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Grace Christian Fellowship with Pastor Ted Mercer and Pastor Charles Goodall officiating. Melva will be laid to rest in the Wichita Tribal Cemetery north of Anadarko, OK
